Macquarie Group Foundation Advances Equitable Access

College Advising Corps, the nation’s largest nonprofit service organization dedicated to educational equity and opportunity for all high school students, today announced a three-year $360,000 grant from the Macquarie Group Foundation, which provides support to community organizations through philanthropic grants, volunteering, and skills sharing predominantly in the locations in which Macquarie operates. The funds will pilot a professional development program to support College Advising Corps’ more than 700 college advisers serving in under-resourced high schools nationwide.

Blair Smith, a College Advising Corps (CAC) adviser at the University of Virginia, received the 2023 Laura M. and Peter T. Grauer True North award at the College Advising Corps’ annual Adviser Assembly held in January.

Texas Adviser Receives True North Award

The award for excellence, named for and presented by Peter T. Grauer, chairman of Bloomberg L.P. and College Advising Corps founding board chair, is given annually to an adviser exemplifying excellence in service along with a consistent demonstration of College Advising Corps’ core values—specifically grace and humility.

Adviser Named Virginia State AmeriCorps Member of The Year

Lee Bernstein, who this month is concluding three years of service as a College Advising Corps adviser at the University of Virginia, has been named Virginia State AmeriCorps Member of the Year, an annual award recognizing and celebrating members who exemplify one or more AmeriCorps pillars, Unite, Strengthen, and Lead.
