Helping Students Realize Their Dreams

College Advising Corps at Duke University places well-trained, recent college graduates as full-time, near-peer college advisers in under-resourced high schools in rural North Carolina. Established in 2014, the AmeriCorps member program has expanded to include 18 near-peer advisers serving in 18 high schools in eight counties, including Durham County, Johnston County, Lee County, Orange County, Person County, Richmond County, Sampson County, and Wake County.

Sometimes all it takes is a conversation and a little bit of help for students to see the opportunities that are available to them. Nelia Ekeji, Adviser Alum
