Helping Students Realize Their Dreams

Established in 2019, College Advising Corps at Appalachian State University places recent college graduates in high schools where they serve as AmeriCorps-sponsored college advisers. The program, which serves high schools throughout western North Carolina, works to increase the number of first-generation students and students from rural areas who enter and complete postsecondary education, whether that be trade school, military service, community college, or a four-year university. Currently, 20 advisers serve in 23 under-resourced high schools.
