A Sustainable Path To Transform Lives

Despite the challenges resulting from the transition from virtual learning to in-person learning, Laura remained dedicated to her academics her senior year as she hoped to be able to go to college. To make sure she did everything possible to get into her dream school, Laura frequently met with Bella, a College Advising Corps adviser at UCLA. The pair worked together to make sure Laura filled out her college applications as accurately as possible. The UCLA program understands that higher education is the surest path to boost economic mobility. Today, Laura is a freshman and realizing her dream for a college degree. Established in 2019, the UCLA program initially placed three advisers in three high schools. The program has expanded to place 30 advisers in 30 high schools.

Through our partnership with College Advising Corps, we are able to expand the depth of service we provide to our partner school sites. Instead of a once per week service, advisers are able to be on site every day—becoming a part of the school culture. Dr. Justyn Patterson, Program Director
