Reimagining Opportunity
Mary determined early on she wasn’t going to college. After meeting regularly with Arianne, a near-peer College Advising Corps adviser at UNCW, the pair found a few certificate programs and a couple of community colleges Mary considered good matches. With encouragement from Arianne, Mary began to see herself attending college and decided to apply. The UNCW program launched in 2021. Advisers assist students with all aspects of the college application process, including FAFSA, scholarship applications, and college enrollment.
Working for College Advising Corps has changed my life for the better. It has not only led me to develop great relationships within my high school but has also given me quality experience in the education field.
