Texas A&M University-San Antonio partners with College Advising Corps and Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to build a near-peer hybrid advising program that serves the needs of high schools in the San Antonio area. Building on the success of the CAC traditional in-school advising model, CAC hybrid advisers incorporate the best practices of in-person advising with virtual tools to maximize student outcomes. Hybrid advisers partner with high schools to complement and broaden the school’s college and career programming, and they coach students to identify institutions that match the student’s academic abilities and fit the student’s social, cultural, and financial needs.
Our launch year was successful and full of accomplishments. I’m happy and proud to be a part of this chapter and making a difference in the community.Valeria Sanjuan, Adviser
